Batteries are an indispensable item these days. There are different operating systems for power sources. This article discusses two types of lithium-ion systems: the 232 battery and the RS232.
RS232 Battery Specifications
It is a rectangular battery of medium size and relatively light weight. The lithium-ion system provides high energy density and low self-discharge. It is designed for use in devices that require a large number of charge-recharge cycles without maintenance. Such devices include PDAs, cell phones, radio toys, digital video cameras, and still cameras. Table 1 below provides technical specifications.

Technical characteristics of the 232 battery
Among lithium-ion energy storage devices, the 232 battery is worth mentioning. It has all the above-mentioned advantages of this class of batteries regarding energy density and self-discharge, but differs in some characteristics. Compared to the RS232, the 232 battery is heavier and larger, which gives it greater capacity(a two-fold advantage). This makes it more convenient to use, as it increases the number of charge-discharge cycles without the need for additional maintenance. Below are the numerical values of some operating parameters.
| Criterion | Battery 232 |
| Material | Li-Ion / lithium-ion |
| Form | rectangular |
| Voltage | 7.4 V |
| Capacity | 2000 mAh |
| Dimensions | 36.9 x 53 x 120 mm |
| Weight | 130 g |
| Operating temperature range | from -10 to +50 |
Table 2. Battery 232. Properties and characteristics
There are many similar models available, similar in size and operating parameters. These include:
— BP-230N
— BP-231
— BP-232N
— BP-240
— BP-261
232 batteries have a long lifespan, but their capacity can be restored, i.e., recharged. For this purpose, special BC-160 fast chargers and BC-119N, AD-106, and BC-145E group chargers are used.
It's important to remember that improper battery charging techniques can result in smoke and toxic gases, fire, and battery explosions. To avoid this, follow these guidelines:
— Perform activation correctly, which is best done using a slow charger. The charge-discharge cycle should be repeated three times;
— avoid heating both the charger and the battery;
— any contact with a liquid that conducts electricity will negatively affect the battery’s performance.
The 232 and SR232 batteries have good capacityand other characteristics that allow their use in many devices that require charge-discharge cycles. This makes them almost indispensable in our lives, as they are very common in the phones we use constantly. With proper care, they can provide long-lasting, high-quality service.
