Sometimes you need to remove the graphite rod from batteries. It's most often used in welding machines. It's also needed for the Pepsi experiment. One glass can provide energy for a calculator for a while.
Graphite can be extracted from the following batteries:
- Ancient batteries of the type 373.
- Thick batteries with a voltage of 1.5 volts. They are usually of the R size.
- Salt energy sources.
The graphite core can also be extracted from a pencil. However, in this case, its thickness will be significantly thinner than that of a current storage device.

The graphite rod is used in almost all modern round batteries; in saline batteries it is larger, in alkaline batteries it is smaller.
Alkaline batteries do not have a graphite core.
