When heading out into nature with the idea of having a good time, grilling kebabs, and relaxing, many people take matches with them. But now you can do without them. You can start a fire using a regular battery. It's a good idea to buy a couple of new batteries and put them in your clothes, car, or backpack. This is essential in case you forget your matchbox.
Step-by-step instructions for starting a fire using a battery
Before you begin, you need to prepare your equipment! Here's what you'll need:
- A place with not strong wind.
- Wood fuel, that is, firewood, chips, branches. Preferably dry.
- Dry grass, leaves, paper or cotton wool.
- Battery type AA, AAAor any other 1.5 volt one.
- Foil from cigarettes, chewing gum, or candy. One side should have paper on it. Regular aluminum foil will also work.

Step #1.
To light a fire, take dry grass and pile it into a small pile. Place twigs or thin kindling on top. The key is to keep everything dry so the fire lights up on the first try.
Step #2.
Let's prepare the ignition element. To do this, use scissors to cut a 1-1.5 cm wide strip of foil. Make the center narrower, 1-2 mm. This is the most difficult part, as one wrong move can ruin the foil. Therefore, to light a fire, you need to concentrate and do everything evenly.
You're unlikely to have scissors in the forest, but you'll likely have a knife handy. To make cuts, place the foil on a flat rock or stump and carefully trim away any excess.
Step #3.
If you used gum or cigarette foil, it will have paper glued to it, which is good. The contact is more secure and will therefore ignite faster. If you used chocolate foil or regular food foil, you'll have to carefully wrap the center of the piece with cotton wool, a napkin, paper (preferably toilet paper), etc.
Place the ignition element into a pre-prepared dry fire. Connect the contacts to the battery terminals. When you see sparks and smoke, blow into it; the wind will promote combustion.

It may not always work the first time.
To ensure everything goes as planned, just follow these basic rules:
- The middle of the foil should be no more than 2 mm.
- Paper, cotton wool and other burning objects must fit very tightly to the plate.
- Once smoke or sparks appear, blow.
- For a more pronounced effect, use 2 batteries connected in series.
If ignition doesn't occur, thin the center of the foil even more, use two batteries, or replace the battery; it may be dead. This will help get the fire going faster!

Once the temperature reaches high levels, the attached paper will ignite.
